As a volunteer you will help in a variety of ways…ways tailored to fit with your interests and capabilities. Tasks include collection, sorting, packing in, set up, packing out and general assistance to help the event run smoothly. A detailed brief is provided so each volunteer fully understands their role.
All assistance is appreciated however a commitment to three 2 – 3 hour shifts is asked for.
For further info email volunteers@BOOKARAMA.CO.NZ
Volunteers enjoy concessionary pricing on items for sale morning and afternoon tea is provided.
In addition to volunteers for BOOKARAMA the Howick community as a whole need volunteers from time to time for other meaningful community events. Given this need Howick Rotary and others are forming the Howick Community Volunteer Army (HCVA)…i.e. volunteers to call on when the need arises. Here’s a couple of examples where volunteers would make a significant difference.
Howick Rotary run several annual projects where the HCVA could play significant roles helping with the likes of: BOOKARAMA, Howick Fun Walk & Run, Blankets 4 Kids 4 Winter, Tree planting in Reserves, etc. KiwiHarvest need volunteers to help with their Food Rescue service that helps feed needy families.
The first step is to create a database of people who are happy to contribute some of their time helping with community projects. The database will establish your community interests and indicate voluntary work you and maybe your family are happy to provide. Planned community project updates will be regularly provided…projects that need extra pairs of hands.
